1er prix au concours national des Victoires du Paysage 2014, dans la catégorie Espace public urbain. La Brèche, après avoir accueilli les foires agricoles de 1750 à 1972, puis un rond-point avec un parking au milieu, est devenue le poumon vert du centre-ville de Niort grâce à ses jardins créés entre 2012 et 2013. Elle prend le nom d'une brèche ouverte dans la muraille urbaine lors d'une crue ; le ruisseau de la Bouillounouse formant une cuvette à sa base et inondant lors de fortes pluies. Avez-vous déniché la statuette représentant le chinois Lao Tseu, père fondateur du taoïsme ? Elle est un clin d'oeil à Jean-François Milou, l'un des deux architectes de l'actuelle Brèche, qui a résidé à Singapour jusqu'en 2015 en tant que maître d'oeuvre de la Galerie Nationale d'Art. Cette cité-état de l'Asie de l'Est est une ville jardin où la communauté chinoise vénère encore le philosophe.

La Brèche, after hosting agricultural fairs from 1750 to 1972, then a roundabout with parking in the middle, became the green lung of downtown Niort thanks to its gardens created between 2012 and 2013. It takes the name of a breach in the urban wall during a flood; the stream of the Bouillounouse forming a basin at its base and flooding during heavy rains. Did you find the statue of the Chinese Lao Tzu, the founding father of Taoism? It is a nod to Jean-François Milou, one of the two architects of the current Brèche, who resided in Singapore until 2015 as master builder of the National Art Gallery. This city-state of East Asia is a garden city where the Chinese community still worships the philosopher.

Nachdem La Brèche von 1750 bis 1972 die Landwirtschaftsmessen beherbergte und danach ein Kreisverkehr mit einem Parkplatz in der Mitte entstand, wurde sie dank ihrer zwischen 2012 und 2013 angelegten Gärten zur grünen Lunge der Innenstadt von Niort. Sie ist nach einer Lücke benannt, die bei Hochwasser in der Stadtmauer geöffnet wurde; der Bach Bouillounouse bildet an seiner Basis eine Senke und überschwemmt sie bei starken Regenfällen. Haben Sie die Statuette, die den Chinesen Lao Tse, den Gründervater des Daoismus, darstellt, aufgespürt? Sie ist eine Anspielung auf Jean-François Milou, einen der beiden Architekten der heutigen Brèche, der bis 2015 als Baumeister der Nationalen Kunstgalerie in Singapur wohnte. Het dankt zijn naam aan een breuk in de stadsmuur die tijdens een overstroming is ontstaan; de beek Bouillounouse vormt een bekken aan de voet ervan en overstroomt bij hevige regenval. Heb je het beeldje gevonden van de Chinese Lao Tzu, grondlegger van het Taoïsme? Het is een knipoog naar Jean-François Milou, een van de twee architecten van de huidige Brèche, die tot 2015 in Singapore verbleef als projectmanager van de National Art Gallery. Deze Oost-Aziatische stadstaat is een tuinstad waar de Chinese gemeenschap de filosoof nog steeds vereert.
