François LANGE is a retired police officer. Fascinated by the history of France and Brittany in particular, he created the character of François Le Roy, an intuitive Bigouden policeman with his feet firmly planted in the land of his ancestors.
The adventures of this rather atypical Breton police inspector take place in 19th-century Finistère during the Second Empire.
In his talk, he will address two themes:
– Why write historical novels set in the Second Empire when you were a policeman in the late 20th and early 21st centuries?
– How do you combine fiction and historical reality in novels set in the 19th century?
