Le Château Doyac, situé sur la commune de Saint-Seurin-de-Cadourne, est la propriété de Max de Pourtalès et le lieu de sa reconversion. En effet, avant d’être viticulteur, il travaillait sur les marchés financiers en Allemagne puis en France alors que sa femme faisait du théâtre à New York. Trois mois après leur mariage, ils viennent dans le Bordelais où Max entame des études de viticulture et d’oenologie. Après avoir fait ses armes au Château de Malleret, il achète en 1998 ce château et ses 34 hectares quasiment d’un seul tenant.
Depuis, il a rénové et modernisé les lieux pour optimiser l’élaboration du vin. Il a également replanté beaucoup de merlot dans un vignoble passé en culture raisonnée. A la vigne comme au chai, Max de Pourtalès est en permanence à l’écoute de son terroir, de la plante, de son environnement pour y travailler ensuite avec respect, justesse et application.

Château Doyac, located in the commune of Saint-Seurin-de-Cadourne, is the property of Max de Pourtalès and the place of his reconversion. Before becoming a winegrower, he worked in the financial markets in Germany and then in France, while his wife worked in the theater in New York. Three months after their marriage, they came to the Bordeaux region where Max began studying viticulture and oenology. In 1998, he bought the Château de Malleret and its 34 hectares of vineyards in one piece.
Since then, he has renovated and modernized the premises to optimize the wine making process. He has also replanted a lot of merlot in a vineyard that has been converted to sustainable agriculture. In the vineyard as well as in the cellar, Max de Pourtalès is constantly listening to his terroir, to the plant and to his environment in order to work with respect, accuracy and application.
